HARRISBURG, Pa. (May 1, 2024) — Nancy Conrad, a partner with Philadelphia-based White and Williams LLP, managing partner of White and Williams’ Lehigh Valley office and a resident of Lehigh County, will become president of the Pennsylvania Bar Association (PBA) at the conclusion of the association’s Annual Meeting on May 10 in Hershey.
During her year as president, Conrad will build on what she identifies as the “four cornerstones” that will shape the vision for the year: to promote integrity and excellence in the practice of law, to encourage wellness and professionalism among PBA members, to ensure inclusion and belonging in the PBA and to extend PBA’s outreach and connection to PBA communities.
In addition to her role as a PBA officer, Conrad is co-vice chair of the PBA Federal Practice Committee, a member of the PBA Labor and Employment Law Section Executive Council and a member of the PBA Commission on Women in the Profession Executive Council. She is also a member of the PBA Bylaws, Civil Litigation, Civil and Equal Rights, Large Law Firm, Law-Related Education, LGBTQ+ Rights, Minority Bar and Quality of Life/Balance committees, among others. Conrad was the inaugural chair of the PBA Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Team, which developed and presented a series of programs focusing on DEI issues and created diversity representatives to serve as liaisons to PBA committees and sections. She also served on the PBA Board of Governors as the at-large governor representing the interests of women lawyers.
An active member of the PBA Commission on Women in the Profession (WIP), Conrad previously served as its co-chair. She was instrumental in developing themes for the WIP’s educational events that explore the cross-section of history and its impact on women lawyers. Conrad also served as the inaugural chair of the WIP Public Service Committee. In 2019, the WIP honored Conrad with its Anne X. Alpern Award, which recognizes a female lawyer or judge who demonstrates excellence in the legal profession and who makes a significant professional impact on women in the law. In 2019 and 2021, Conrad received a PBA President’s Award for her service to the PBA. Conrad is also a PBA-appointed delegate to the American Bar Association House of Delegates.
In addition to her commitment to the PBA, Conrad is the immediate past president of the Bar Association of Lehigh County. She also is a member of the National Association of College and University Attorneys and served as a Hearing Committee Member for the Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania in Disciplinary District II.
Active in the community, Conrad is board president of the Lehigh Valley Women’s 5K Classic, a volunteer organization that promotes fitness among women and supports women with breast and gynecological cancers and contributes to funding for related programs and research in the Lehigh Valley.
Conrad’s accolades include receiving the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce Athena Award, which honors women striving for the highest levels of professional accomplishment, excelling in their chosen field and devoting time and energy to their community. She also received a Girl Scouts Take the Lead Award and was named a Lehigh Valley Magazine Woman of Influence.
Conrad is chair of White and Williams’ Higher Education group and represents businesses, educational institutions and nonprofit organizations in workplace disputes, including wrongful discharge, whistleblower and federal and state discrimination claims, and provides counsel on workplace and academic issues. Conrad served as chair of the White and Williams Women’s Initiative and assists women lawyers in identifying ways to achieve their goals and find work/life balance.
Conrad holds a bachelor’s degree from Lycoming College, a master’s degree from Penn State University and a Juris Doctor from Temple University School of Law.
