PBA President Issues Statement on Investiture of Chief Justice Debra Todd

HARRISBURG, Pa. (Jan. 20, 2023) – Pennsylvania Bar Association President Jay N. Silberblatt issued the following statement on today’s investiture of Chief Justice Debra Todd in Pittsburgh:

“On behalf of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, I extend congratulations to Chief Justice Debra Todd as she is formally installed as the first female chief justice in the 300-year history of our Pennsylvania Supreme Court.

“Her many years of service as a Pennsylvania Supreme Court justice and as a Superior Court judge, as well as her years as a practicing lawyer, have prepared her well to lead our state’s highest court.

“Chief Justice Todd has nurtured a sound working relationship between the court and the organized bar. For example, we are grateful for her recent ‘state of the court’ address during our House of Delegates meeting last November. In addition, through the years, Chief Justice Todd has been a frequent speaker and panelist at our continuing legal education programs and conferences.

“We thank Chief Justice Todd for her dedicated and exceptional service and look forward to ongoing collaborative efforts benefitting both the court and the organized bar.”
