Mission and Vision Statement:

The Legal Academics Committee mission is to serve as an innovative, interactive and collaborative bridge between the practicing bar and legal academia.

The vision of the Committee includes the following:

  • Support and improve legal scholarship and education through collaboration between academia and practicing attorneys with respect to continuing legal education, skills-building, the law school curriculum, and mentorship;
  • Serve as a resource for PBA groups, law school professors, and the community for articles, speakers, and information requiring subject matter expertise in collaboration with and/or to supplement the expertise possessed by other PBA committees and sections;
  • Encourage and support membership and engagement in the PBA by the academic community and law students;
  • Implement programming and collaborate with other committees, sections, and groups within and outside the PBA to advance diversity and inclusion in the legal profession, legal academia, and the legal system as a whole;
  • Make recommendations to the PBA Board of Governors and House of Delegates to take positions on legislative, executive, and judicial initiatives that serve to meet the needs of law students, academia and the legal profession.
