HARRISBURG (May 9, 2022) — Matthew M. Haar, managing partner of the Harrisburg office of Saul Ewing Arnstein & Lehr LLP, has been appointed to the Pennsylvania Bar Association Board of Governors as the unit county governor. He will serve a three-year term beginning at the conclusion of the PBA Annual Meeting, on May 13 in Hershey.
Haar is the vice chair of the PBA Shale Energy Law Committee and serves on the PBA Administrative Law Section Council and the PBA Civil Litigation Council. He is a member of the PBA Large Law Firm Committee and PBA Federal Practice Committee. Haar is a voting zone delegate in the PBA House of Delegates and a former chair of the PBA Administrative Law Section.
Also active at the local level of the organized bar, Haar is a past president of the Dauphin County Bar Association and the current chair of its House Committee and a member of its Local Rules Committee. Haar is also currently the president of the James S. Bowman American Inn of Court focused on state administrative practice. He is a former president of the Middle District of Pennsylvania Chapter of the Federal Bar Association.
Haar has also served as an instructor at Penn State Dickinson School of Law, teaching courses on problem solving.
Haar has more than 20 years of experience as a litigator of corporate and commercial disputes, including cases involving insurance and reinsurance, energy and permitting and clean energy. He represents companies across an array of industries, including real estate, government contracts and cannabis. Haar litigates disputes related to exploration, production and transportation of oil and natural gas, in state and federal courts as well as Pennsylvania state administrative agencies.
Haar is a cum laude graduate of Washington and Lee University and a cum laude graduate of Penn State Dickinson School of Law, where he was an articles editor for the Dickinson Law Review, a member of the Appellate Moot Court Board, and a member of the Woolsack Honor Society.
