HARRISBURG, Pa. (May 3, 2024) — Paul D. Edger, senior deputy attorney general in charge of the Harrisburg region of the Bureau of Consumer Protection with the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, will begin a three-year term on the Pennsylvania Bar Association (PBA) Board of Governors at the conclusion of the association’s Annual Meeting on May 10 in Hershey.
Edger will serve as the PBA Zone 3 governor, representing lawyers in Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Juniata, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry and York counties.
For more than a decade, Edger has been involved in the PBA Young Lawyers Division, serving as treasurer, co-chair of the YLD’s Zone 3 and YLD representative to the PBA House of Delegates. He served as chair of the YLD from 2020-21 and served a three-year term on the Board of Governors, the PBA’s governing body. He is one of three statewide coordinators for Wills for Heroes, a program co-sponsored by the PBA YLD that provides free wills and estate planning documents to first responders and military veterans. Edger also has been a juror, attorney advisor and presiding judge in the PBA Statewide High School Mock Trial Competition, which is coordinated by the YLD. Recognized for his contributions to the PBA, Edger received the 2022 PBA Pro Bono Award and the 2023 PBA YLD Michael K. Smith Excellence in Service Award.
In addition, Edger is co-vice chair of the PBA Technology Committee, and a member of the PBA Government Lawyers, Legal Services for Exceptional Children, Legal Services to the Public, Membership Development and Unauthorized Practice of Law committees. He also serves on the Task Force on Statewide Electronic Filing and Retrieval.
Active in the Cumberland County Bar Association, Edger serves as first vice president on the Board of Directors and co-chair of the Unauthorized Practice of Law Committee. He is a former chair of the Young Lawyer’s Division. In 2018, he received the association’s George E. Hoffer Service to Youth Award.
Beyond the workplace, Edger is an adjunct professor at Widener Commonwealth Law School, teaching employment, family and property law, and trial skills. He also serves as the immediate past president of the law school’s Alumni Board and member of the Dean’s Advisory Committee. Edger also is a head coach for the Carlisle Lacrosse Club 8U lacrosse team.
Edger earned his Juris Doctor from Widener Law Commonwealth and his bachelor’s degree in political philosophy and legal studies from Elizabethtown College.
