Welcome to the House of Delegates of the Pennsylvania Bar Association

It is my honor to welcome you to the webpage for the PBA’s primary policy-making authority, the House of Delegates. Pursuant to PBA Bylaw 321(e), meetings of the House are open to the public, so this section of the PBA website is designed to provide you, whether you are a Delegate or member of the public, with convenient access to important information of the House. The information you will find here includes, but is not limited to:

  1. Powers and Functions of the House of Delegates
  2. Geographic Structure - A detailed breakdown of the counties that make up each of the twelve PBA Zones. This essential reference helps you accurately identify your designated Zone.
  3. Composition of the House
  4. Committees of the House
  5. Attendance – Guidelines outlining the steps House Delegates must take to formally request an excused absence from a House meeting.
  6. Reports and Recommendations
  7. Meetings of the House
  8. Agenda for Upcoming House Meeting
  9. Nomination and Election of Officers and Delegates
  10. House of Delegates Archive
  11. Past House of Delegates Chairs

The House of Delegates has a rich history in the PBA. Modeled on the structure of the American Bar Association, the House of Delegates was created in 1966, part of a PBA-wide reorganization that eventually coincided with Pennsylvania’s adoption of a new state constitution in 1968.

The House embodies the best of the PBA membership’s consideration, diligence, diplomacy, and reason, and it is my pleasure to invite you to learn more about and experience it in action.

Warmly,

Philip H. Yoon
Chair, House of Delegates
