Armstrong County Lawyer Richard L. Manilla to Serve on Pennsylvania Bar Association Board of Governors

HARRISBURG, Pa. (May 3, 2023) — Richard L. Manilla of Swank Law Offices, Kittanning, will begin a three-year term on the Pennsylvania Bar Association (PBA) Board of Governors at the close of the association’s May 5 House of Delegates meeting in Philadelphia.

One of 12 PBA zone governors, Manilla will represent Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Lawrence and Mercer county lawyers on the Board of Governors.

Manilla joined the Swank Law Offices in 2020. He handles family law as well as criminal defense, civil litigation, personal injury and workers’ compensation cases.

He previously was a civil litigator in Pittsburgh. He also worked for the Ohio Northern Legal Clinic, representing indigent clients in domestic relations matters, and he worked for the Prosecutor’s Office of Hardin County, Ohio, prosecuting child abuse, neglect and dependency cases. Manilla previously clerked for Judge Gregory L. Frost of the U.S. District Court, Southern District of Ohio.

Manilla is the 2022-23 president of the Armstrong County Bar Association. In his community, he is an active member of the Prospect Area Preservation Society and St. Christopher Catholic Church. Manilla is originally from Hermitage in Mercer County.

Manilla is a graduate of Claude W. Pettit College of Law at Ohio Northern University, where he was an associate justice of the Jessup International Law Team and competed in the Jessup International Moot Court Competition as a team member and coach. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg, where he graduated summa cum laude and was inducted into the Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society, the Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society, the Pi Sigma Alpha National Honor Society in Political Science and the University of Pittsburgh Greensburg Ben Franklin Society.
