Lawrence R. Chaban of AlpernSchubert PC, Pittsburgh, is serving a three-year term on the Pennsylvania Bar Association Board of Governors as a zone governor representing Allegheny County lawyers.
Chaban serves on the PBA Bylaws Committee and Membership Development Committee. He is member and past chair of the PBA Workers’ Compensation Law Section and has served on the section’s Regulation Committee. He currently serves on the section’s Liaison Committee.
Chaban is completing a term on the Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania Bar Foundation, the charitable arm of the PBA. He chaired the foundation’s Audit Committee and was a member of the Governance and Bylaws Committee. He previously served on the foundation’s Audit Committee.
Also active in other organizations at the local and national levels, Chaban is a member of the Allegheny County Bar Association, Pennsylvania Association for Justice, American Bar Association and National Organization of Social Security Claimants Practitioners.
In March 2013, he was inducted as a Fellow of the College of Workers’ Compensation Lawyers. In October 2015, Chaban was appointed to the Pennsylvania Workers’ Compensation Advisory Council, which advised the governor and General Assembly on workers’ compensation issues, and serves as employee co-chair.
Chaban is frequent lecturer for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute, the education department of the PBA, as well as the Pennsylvania Association for Justice and employer/insurer organizations.
Since 2013, Chaban has been certified as a specialist in the practice of workers' compensation law by the PBA Section on Workers' Compensation Law as authorized by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.
Chaban began his career in Washington, Pennsylvania. In 2003, he moved his practice to Pittsburgh to serve as of counsel to Lydon & Schubert. He is now a partner with AlpernSchubert.
Chaban graduated with honors from the University of Pittsburgh and the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.
