Joseph T. McDonald Memorial Scholarship Recipient Named for 2024

HARRISBURG, Pa. (Jan. 23, 2025) — The Pennsylvania Bar Foundation (PBF) has named Ethan Kincaid the 2024 recipient of the Joseph T. McDonald Scholarship.

The Joseph T. McDonald Memorial Scholarship Program was established in 2013 and provides a scholarship to a full-time, third-year law student who is involved in the Penn State Dickinson Law trial advocacy program.

“I am beyond thankful for the generosity of the McDonald family in establishing this scholarship and for choosing me for the distinction. I am honored but also recognize that I must continue to grow and better my skills once in practice. It is humbling to know that in only a matter of months I could be joining this profession, and I hope to honor its principles of integrity in my work every day,” Kincaid said.

Kincaid will also earn a certificate in civil litigation upon graduation. He has prepared himself for a future in litigation by pursuing courses based on oral advocacy: trial advocacy, appellate advocacy, client counseling, negotiations and mediations.

As an active member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association (PBA) during his time in law school, Kincaid has taken advantage of the opportunities provided by the PBA to law students.

“I have been a part of the PBA since I entered law school, and it has been a great organization for me since day one. I have had the opportunity to be published multiple times and attend multiple networking events. One of my favorite activities I participated in was the [Pennsylvania Bar Institute] education law update where I learned about special education law, which is an area I plan to practice in. Being a member has helped set me up for success and I look forward to future events I can take part in,” he said.

Following the bar exam, Kincaid plans to work at CGA Law Firm in York and will begin practice there in litigation and school law.

The Joseph T. McDonald Memorial Scholarship Fund is administered by the Pennsylvania Bar Foundation, the charitable affiliate of the Pennsylvania Bar Association. For more information on this and other scholarships, visit www.pabarfoundation.org.
