Philadelphia Lawyer Re-elected Secretary of the Pennsylvania Bar Association

HARRISBURG (May 18, 2009) - Philadelphia lawyer Charles Eppolito III of White and Williams L.L.P. will begin his third one-year term as secretary of the Pennsylvania Bar Association (PBA) at the close of the organization's Annual Meeting, June 4 in Pittsburgh.

Eppolito has been a member of the PBA's House of Delegates since 2001. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association's Board of Governors, commencing his second term in 2007, having previously served on the board from 2001-2004. He is presently chair of the board's Membership Committee. He served as chair of the PBA Quality of Life/Balance Committee and as co-vice chair of the PBA Membership Development Committee. He was chair of the 2005-06 Annual Meeting Task Force and co-chair of the PBA Midyear Meeting. Eppolito was the 2002-03 chair of the PBA Young Lawyers Division and has been active in the PBA YLD Mock Trial Competition for Pennsylvania high school students.

Eppolito is a hearing committee member for the Disciplinary Board of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, a position he has held since 2004. Eppolito has been active in the American Bar Association, serving in its House of Delegates and its Tellers Committee and on a number of other committees and sections of the ABA, including the Medical Professional Liability Standing Committee and the Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section. He previously held a number of leadership positions in the ABA's Young Lawyers Division.

A member of the Philadelphia Bar Association, Eppolito also has held positions on the executive board of the Philadelphia Bar Association's Young Lawyers Division. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Defense Institute, having previously served as chair of its Young Members' Committee. He is a past member of the Centre and Dauphin County bar associations and held leadership positions within the Young Lawyers Sections in both organizations.

He has been named a "Lawyer on the Fast Track" by Pennsylvania Law Weekly, The Legal Intelligencer and a panel of judges throughout Pennsylvania for his professional achievements and promise as well as his contributions to the legal profession and the community. Eppolito received the Michael K. Smith Excellence in Service Award from the PBA in 2007 for his exemplary personal and professional conduct, and his service to the profession and the community. He was named a Pennsylvania "Rising Star" attorney in 2005, 2006 and 2007 by Law & Politics magazine as a result of a survey of his peers.

Eppolito also has been a speaker or panelist for a number of professional programs, including effective trial advocacy, trial strategy and tips, alternative dispute resolution, mentoring, diversity, and quality of life/balance.

Committed to public service, he has coordinated and presented public programs across the country about the jury system and about diversity and tolerance. He has been a member of Variety Club - The Children's Charity of Greater Philadelphia and is a supporter of the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

Eppolito is a graduate of Villanova University, cum laude, and the Villanova University School of Law.

Eppolito is a partner in the Litigation Department and a member of the Healthcare Group at White and Williams LLP, in Philadelphia. His practice consists primarily of medical malpractice defense.
