Beaver County Lawyers Receive Everyday Leader Awards from the Pennsylvania Bar Association

HARRISBURG (Nov. 30, 2006) Beaver County lawyers Cathy D. Campbell and James J. Ross have received Everyday Leader Awards from the Pennsylvania Bar Association (PBA).

Cathy and Jim invest significant efforts into bettering their communities and the legal profession, said PBA President Kenneth J. Horoho Jr., who presented the awards during a luncheon meeting of the Beaver County Bar Association. Their devotion to service has made and continues to make positive differences in Beaver County.

Campbell, a sole practitioner in Beaver Falls, often mentors other lawyers in legal aspects of adoption, which is her own area of specialty.

During 2004-05, Campbell served as president of the Beaver County Bar Association and has also served as chair of the membership criteria committee. On behalf of the association, she routinely coordinates Stepping Out, a legal rights and responsibilities program presented by lawyers to area high school students, and Lunch and Learn, a series of lunchtime seminars that update lawyers on legal issues of the day.

Ross, a partner in the law firm of Bowers, Ross and Fawcett in Ambridge, is active in community and legal organizations.

Ross has served on the board of directors for the Beaver County YMCA, One-to-One Citizen Advocacy and Erie County Special Olympics. He has been extensively involved in the Beaver County Bar Association since 1991. He currently is first vice president of the Beaver County Bar Association and serves as chair of its civil rules and charitable giving committees.

The Everyday Leader Award is given to individuals who go above and beyond, sharing their time and talent to help and support others, said Horoho. They work hard each and every day performing good works, not for personal gain or recognition, but for the right reasonsto improve the places they call home and to better Pennsylvanias legal system. Cathy Campbell and Jim Ross are two of these everyday leaders and these awards are presented in gratitude for their contributions to Beaver County.

Founded in 1895, the Pennsylvania Bar Association exists to promote justice, professional excellence and respect of the law; improve public understanding of the legal system; facilitate access to legal services; and serve the 29,000 lawyers who are members of the association.
