Pennsylvania Lawyers Honored by the Pennsylvania Bar Association

HARRISBURG (June 29, 2007) - The Pennsylvania Bar Association (PBA) recently presented awards to Pennsylvania lawyers for their outstanding leadership in the legal profession and longstanding membership in the association. The PBA Special Achievement Awards recognize those lawyers who have donated resources and time to the improvement of the association and the legal profession. The President's Awards, bestowed at the discretion of 2006-07 PBA President Kenneth J. Horoho Jr., recognize extraordinary commitment to the association. The PBA Fifty-Year Member Awards are presented to lawyers who have been association members for five decades. The awards were presented during the association's Annual Meeting in Philadelphia, June 20-22.

Allegheny County
David J. Armstrong, Pittsburgh: Fifty-Year Member Award
Maurice W. Baruth, Pittsburgh: Fifty-Year Member Award
Ann L. Begler of The Begler Group, Pittsburgh: President's Award - for leadership of the PBA Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee, service to the PBA Outreach to Children's Summit and ongoing dedication to the association
Thomas L. Cooper of Cooper & Ziegler, Pittsburgh, and former PBA president: President's Award - for serving as co-chair of the PBA Task Force on Lawyer Advertising and improving the image of the legal profession
Frederick N. Egler Jr., chief counsel litigation, PNC Bank Legal Department, Pittsburgh: Special Achievement Award - for excellent service and leadership as co-chair of the PBA Technology Task Force that was responsible for redesigning the association's Web site and developing information resources to assist members
Vincent J. Grogan of Grogan Graffam P.C., Pittsburgh, and former PBA president: President's Award - for service as chair of the Pennsylvania Bar Insurance Fund and Trust
David J. Hickton of Burns White & Hickton L.L.C., Pittsburgh: Special Achievement Award - for leadership as co-chair of the PBA Task Force on the Pennsylvania Judicial System, which examined how the organized bar and the judiciary could work together to promote and enhance public confidence in the judicial system
George J. Miller, Pittsburgh: Fifty-Year Member Award
Roderick G. Norris, Pittsburgh: Fifty-Year Member Award
Arnold V. Plum, McKeesport: Fifty-Year Member Award
Thomas M. Thompson, partner, Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney P.C., Pittsburgh: Special Achievement Award - for serving as chair of the PBA Business Law Section that works to modernize commercial laws to improve the state's business climate
Joanne Ross Wilder, president, Wilder & Mahood, Pittsburgh: Special Achievement Award - for serving as co-chair of the PBA Legal Ethics and Professional Responsibility Committee and dedicating many hours to respond to inquires on the association's ethics hotline

Andrew R. Eisemann of Capozzi & Associates P.C., Harrisburg: Special Achievement Award - for working to establish the PBA Military and Veterans Committee and for dedication and commitment in championing a variety of causes for veterans and military personnel
Richard L. Kearns, Harrisburg, Fifty-Year Member Award
Juliet M. Moringiello, professor, Widener University School of Law, Harrisburg: Special Achievement Award - for serving as chair of the Uniform Commercial Code of the PBA Business Law Section and efforts to modernize commercial law
