PENNSYLVANIA BAR ASSOCIATION ELECTS NEW MEMBERS FOR THE BOARD OF GOVERNORS

HARRISBURG (May 2001) - The Pennsylvania Bar Association House of Delegates elected the association�s new members of the 2001-2002 Board of Governors during the organization�s annual meeting held this month in Pittsburgh. The new members will fill the board�s four vacancies. There are twelve zone governors in total.

The new board members are as follows:
Bernard M. Billick, a partner in the Stroudsburg law firm of Billick & Wolf will represent Bradford, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Monroe, Pike, Sullivan, Susquehanna, Wayne and Wyoming county lawyers. His term will expire in 2004.

Billick currently serves on the PBA Judicial Independence Committee and is a past president of the Monroe County Bar Association.

He is a graduate of Lafayette College and the Dickinson School of Law.

Centre County Court of Common Pleas Judge Thomas King Kistler will represent Cameron, Centre, Clearfield, Clinton, Elk and Potter county lawyers. His term will expire in 2004.

A past chair of the PBA Young Lawyers Division, Judge Kistler currently serves in the PBA House of Delegates and Civil Litigation Section. Judge Kistler also is a member of the Centre County Bar Association.

Active in his community, Judge Kistler currently serves on the board of directors of the Bellefonte Kiwanis Club and Centre County Communities That Care. Judge Kistler also is a past board member of the State College YMCA.

Judge Kistler is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University and the Dickinson School of Law.

Ronald W. Shipman, a partner in the Easton law firm of Shipman and Grifo, will represent Berks, Carbon, Lehigh, Northampton and Schuylkill county lawyers. His term will expire in 2004.

A member of the PBA House of Delegates since 1978, Shipman is a lecturer for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute, the continuing legal education arm of the PBA. He also is a past president of the Northampton County Bar Association. In addition, Shipman is a diplomate of the National Board of Trial Advocacy.

Active in his community, Shipman is a trustee of the Mariton Wildlife Preserve. He served on boards of the Youth Symphony Orchestra and Children�s Home of Easton. Shipman also is a former member of the Pen Argyl Exchange Club.

Shipman is a graduate of Princeton University and the Dickinson School of Law.

Sandra Weyant Upor, a solo practitioner in Somerset, will represent Bedford, Blair, Cambria, Fulton, Huntingdon, Indiana, Mifflin and Somerset county lawyers. Her term will expire in 2004.

A former member of the PBA Board of Governors, Upor is active in the PBA Children�s Rights, Elder Law and Judicial Independence committees and the Commission on Women in the Profession. She is a past co-chair of the Membership Development Committee and Task Force on the Quality of Life/Balance. In addition, Upor currently serves as secretary of the Conference of County Bar Leaders and is a past president of the Somerset County Bar Association.

Active in her community, Upor is the vice president of the Somerset Lions Club and is a member of the Westmoreland Museum of Art, Somerset County Conservancy and Berlin Historical Society.

Upor is a graduate of the Indiana University of Pennsylvania and the Duquesne University School of Law.
