STATE BAR ASSOCIATION SUPPORTS CONSTITUTIONAL BALLOT QUESTION IN TUESDAYS PRIMARY |
HARRISBURG (May 11, 2001) - The Pennsylvania Bar Association House of Delegates today passed a resolution in support of Tuesdays ballot question, which would amend the Pennsylvania Constitution to allow judges to retire at the end of the calendar year in which they turn 70 years of age.
We are pleased to support Pennsylvania judges in having the opportunity to fully serve the citizens of this great commonwealth, said PBA President H. Reginald Belden Jr. By extending judicial retirement to the end of the calendar year, citizens utilizing the justice system will not be in jeopardy of having court cases disrupted due to changes in presiding judges.
This ballot question is one of two Pennsylvania Constitution amendment questions that will appear on Tuesdays primary ballot.
