PBA Law Practice Management Resources
Mergers and Affiliations
Merger activity among law firms is still very strong. But it is estimated that only 5 to 20 percent
of mergers discussed ever come to fruition. And ultimately that may be a good thing, because a good
percentage of mergers do not work out long term.
What are the proper steps to consider when approaching a merger? What compatibility issues and due
diligence should be carefully examined? Would an affiliation of some kind be a more appropriate
and lower risk alternative?
This section addresses these questions and more.
