Government Lawyers Committee |
Welcome from the Chair
The PBA Government Lawyers Committee was developed in 1997 to deal with matters of interest and concern to government lawyers, to assist our members achieve their career goals through the provision of services and programs, to educate lawyers on the valuable opportunities and experience available through government service, and to educate the public on the important role served by government lawyers. Having been active in the committee since its inception 15 years ago, I have personally witnessed advancement of these objectives in many ways. Despite being extremely busy professionally, our members routinely offer up their own time in furtherance of the committee's goals. I am honored to serve as chair of this committee.
The committee currently has three working subcommittees: Professional Development, Projects and Outreach, and Communications. The Professional Development Subcommittee will be
visiting law schools to assist students considering a career in public service. The Projects and Outreach Subcommittee will be engaging in various pro bono projects, in addition to planning
our ever-popular holiday reception. The Communications Subcommittee works hard to produce our quality newsletter "News and Views" - article submissions always are greatly
appreciated!
The committee as a whole has big plans for the upcoming year. If you have a desire to take a more active role, please contact me, our vice chair, or any one of the subcommittee chairs. We would love for you to join us as we continue to improve the public image of the government lawyer!
