Disabilities Lawyer Referral Service |
Disabilities Lawyer Referral Service
The Pennsylvania Bar Association Board of Governors approved the establishment of a
lawyer referral service maintained by the Legal Services to Persons with Disabilities
Committee to respond to inquiries from persons with disabilities seeking legal
representation. The committee has established the Disabilities Lawyer Referral Service (DLRS). The purpose of the referral service is to
match up lawyers with "accessible" offices, or those who are willing to meet at
an accessible site, with potential disabled clients who have various types of legal needs,
which are not limited to disability issues. The committee is accepting applications from
lawyers licensed in Pennsylvania to be a part of the referral service. For more
information, please click on the following item: Access to
Justice
The committee is committed to full access to the legal system for persons with
disabilities. Its concerns apply to all proceedings in which persons deal with or appear
before their government, including not only courtroom proceedings but also district
justice hearings, administrative proceedings before boards and commissions at the federal,
state or local levels and all sorts of legislative hearings. If you or your clients have
experienced or are experiencing physical or other barriers to full participation in the
legal process, contact the committee through Louann Bell, (800) 932-0311, ext. 2276. The
committee wishes to document difficulties and work with the entities involved in order to
ameliorate or resolve accessibility problems. For further information, contact Committee
Debra K. Wallet at (717) 737-1300.
