DAUPHIN COUNTY LAWYER ELECTED TO THE PENNSYLVANIA BAR ASSOCIATION BOARD OF GOVERNORS

HARRISBURG (April 9, 2003) � Dauphin County lawyer Karen M. Balaban, of the law firm of Karen M. Balaban LLC, will become a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association Board of Governors at the close of the organization�s annual meeting April 23 � 25 in Philadelphia.

One of 12 zone governors who serve on the PBA Board, Balaban will represent Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Juniata, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry and York county lawyers. Her term will expire in 2006.

Balaban is a member of the PBA House of Delegates, chairs the PBA Editorial and Bar/Press committees and is the vice chair of the Pennsylvania Bar Foundation. Balaban is a past president and treasurer of the Dauphin County Bar Association and currently serves on its Court Relations Committee. She is also a member and current chair of a hearing committee of the Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania and is the solicitor for the Carroll Township Zoning Hearing Board.

Active in her community, Balaban is a member of the St. Thomas More Society and is on the advisory board of Project Mercy. She chairs the Long Range Planning Committee for Bishop McDevitt High School and is a member of its Board of Education. In addition, Balaban is active with St. Patrick�s Cathedral in Harrisburg. She is a current member and past director of the Susquehanna Appalachian Trail Club. Balaban is a graduate of the Indiana University of Pennsylvania and the Duquesne University School of Law.
