Minority Lawyers Gather in Philadelphia

PBA�s Annual Minority Attorney Conference to feature Cheryl Mills, former deputy counsel for the White House during President Clinton�s impeachment trial

HARRISBURG (April 8, 2000) -- More than 200 Pennsylvania minority attorneys gathered April 6-7 at the Doubletree Hotel in Philadelphia to discuss issues key to the success of minorities in the practice of law during the 12th Annual Pennsylvania Bar Association Minority Attorney Conference.

Sponsored by the PBA Minority Bar Committee, the conference featured Cheryl Mills, former deputy counsel for the White House during President Clinton�s impeachment trial, as the keynote luncheon speaker on Friday, April 7. The committee presented its annual awards to outstanding members of Pennsylvania�s minority legal community during a reception on Thursday, April 6. The second annual Chairman�s Award was presented to Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas Judge Horace Davenport, the first African-American judge in Montgomery County and the Lifetime Achievement Award was awarded to former Pennsylvania Supreme Court Chief Justice Robert N. C. Nix Jr.
