Washington County Lawyer Receives Statewide Award for Leadership

HARRISBURG (Feb. 24, 2017) — The Pennsylvania Bar Association Conference of County Bar Leaders (CCBL) has honored David S. Posner of Washington with its 2017 Gilbert Nurick Award for his commitment to the Pennsylvania and Washington County Bar associations. The award was presented during the 51st Annual Seminar of the Conference of County Bar Leaders, Feb. 23-25, in State College, Pa.

The Gilbert Nurick Award, which is named for the late Harrisburg lawyer who served as Pennsylvania Bar Association (PBA)  president, is presented to a member of the PBA who exhibits dedication and service to the leadership and promotion of the organized bar and its activities.

In his more than 45 years of serving the bar, Posner has held several leadership positions at the Washington County Bar Association, including president of the association, Professionalism/Ethics Committee chair and Conservatorship Committee chair. Posner conducted numerous seminars, at both the local and state levels, to educate lawyers on the disciplinary process and the Rules of Professional Conduct, in an effort to help them conduct their practices with full knowledge of their ethical obligations. In addition, he managed a rewrite of the association’s bylaws with respect to standing committees, helping to create a much more effective and member-responsive committee structure. Posner’s exemplary efforts on behalf of the legal profession have been recognized with the Robert L. Ceisler Professionalism Award.

Posner is a former member of the PBA House of Delegates and is currently a member of the Solo and Small Firm Practice Section Council and the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section. Posner is also a member of the Pennsylvania Interest on Lawyers’ Trust Account (IOLTA) Board and the Pennsylvania Council of Trial Court Administrators where he was its president from 1975-76.

Posner received a J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh and a B.S.E.E. from Carnegie Mellon University.
