The North Carolina Advocates for Justice and the New Jersey State Bar Foundation will hold the fourth American Mock Trial Invitational May 17-19 at the Middlesex County Courthouse in New Brunswick, N.J. Qualifying high school mock trial students from Pennsylvania are invited to attend.
The American Mock Trial Invitational (AMTI) was established in May 2006 by the New Jersey State Bar Foundation and the North Carolina Advocates for Justice in order to permit high school state mock trial champions with weekend religious obligations to compete in a national forum on weekdays.
The invitational is the only nationwide mock trial competition that permits as many as three of a state’s top six high school championship teams to participate. A team consists of seven to 10 students.
In addition, AMTI does not interfere with Saturday or Sunday religious observance, proms, AP exams or Mother’s Day. Contestants will have the opportunity to try a challenging case, enjoy a private dinner and educational tour of the inspiring Ellis Island Immigration Museum in New York Harbor, and stay at a fine hotel in New Brunswick, a vibrant college town less than an hour from New York City.
Please see the flyer below for details. To receive registration materials, print out and return the form provided in the flyer. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Sheila Boro, director of mock trial programs for the New Jersey State Bar Foundation, at (732) 937-7519 or sboro@njsbf org.
