The Pennsylvania Lawyer
The award-winning Pennsylvania Lawyer magazine is the only statewide magazine in Pennsylvania for lawyers, and it is free with your PBA membership. With a circulation of almost 30,000, it is mailed six times a year to lawyers in practice both in Pennsylvania and outside the commonwealth.

The Lawyer provides members with the latest information on law practice-related trends and developments in the legal profession. Feature articles by lawyers and professional writers are presented in an “accessible” newsmagazine design. Regular columns include ethics, writing tips, legislative reports and legal technology.

Pennsylvania Bar News
The Pennsylvania Bar News, the PBA’s bi-weekly newspaper, features summaries of federal, state and local court opinions to keep members informed of the latest legal decisions. Members also get substantive analysis of developments in various areas of legal practice, plus the latest legislative news from Capitol Hill, ethics advice, law practice management tips, CLE updates and news on PBA activities. The Pennsylvania Bar News won first-place honors in the American Society of Association Executives Gold Circle Awards.

Pennsylvania Bar Association Quarterly
The Pennsylvania Bar Association Quarterly contains comprehensive articles focusing on a wide range of contemporary law. Articles are written by lawyers in scholarly style complete with appropriate reference citations and presented in a legal academic format. The Quarterly is listed in the Index to Legal Periodicals.

Members of the Pennsylvania Bar Association have access to an index containing almost 1,800 Pennsylvania Bar Association Quarterly articles indexed by author, title, and subject.

Legal Guide for Senior Citizens
The PBA Senior Lawyers Committee has published A Guide to Legal Issues for Pennsylvania Senior Citizens, which provides valuable information to senior citizens on a variety of legal topics. Click here to view and download the book.

 

Consumer Legal Information Pamphlets
The PBA has updated its popular pamphlet series on consumer legal issues to help Pennsylvanians better understand their legal rights. The pamphlets, which are written in layman’s terms on a variety of important legal topics, were updated July 2005. Members of the public may obtain a free copy of one or more of the pamphlets by calling the PBA Member Service Center at 1-800-932-0311 or by e-mailing info@pabar.org. Each pamphlet may be purchased in sets of 25 for $10.00 (plus tax). PBA members receive a discount on the pamphlets and may order them for $6.00 (plus tax) per set of 25. The pamphlets are designed to fit into brochure display cases for use in office reception rooms. At Issue
At Issue is an electronic newsletter publication of the PBA Young Lawyers Division. This newsletter, published four times a year, strives to inform PBA/YLD members of the current legal news and keep members abreast of issues shaping legal trends and opinions. Because the newsletter is Pennsylvania young lawyers’ main source of news relating to young colleagues statewide, it is at the forefront in legal reporting circles in showcasing young legal newsmakers and projects of statewide significance.

At Issue

Section Publications

The PBA Lawyers Directory and Product Guide
One of the PBA’s most popular publications, The PBA Lawyers Directory and Product Guide, is published annually and contains more than 60,000 names, addresses, phone numbers and fax numbers of all lawyers licensed to practice in Pennsylvania, county rosters of local judges and officials, special sections on state and federal agencies, officials, courts and judicial personnel, a compilation of law-related organizations, listings of all Pennsylvania district justices and a special advertising section of law firm profiles. The Hornbook on Developing and Maintaining Positive Client Relationships.
Providing lawyers with strategies to help them stay competitive in the legal marketplace is the purpose of The Hornbook on Developing and Maintaining Positive Client Relationships.

Written by lawyers for lawyers, The Hornbook focuses on assisting readers in developing sound marketing and management plans to attract and retain clients. The book, a project of the PBA Client and Community Relations Committee, includes helpful hints on maintaining clientele, returning phone messages, e-mail and effective billing and examples of good and bad advertising. Included are sample documents readers can use to draft their financial statements, write news releases and draft fee-agreement letters. Order online.
