This Web site is intended to inform public school students of their rights. Legal issues such as freedom of expression, religion and right of privacy may be confusing, and that is why this Web site was created. Its mission is to present students with information about their rights and freedoms in an easy manner.

As the U.S. Supreme Court stated in 1969 in Tinker v. Des Moines: It can hardly be argued that either students or teachers shed their constitutional rights to freedom of speech at the schoolhouse gates. This quote originated in a court case of five students who challenged their schools policies and won. For more information on this and more court cases regarding students rights, please visit the Rights Briefings section.

By learning about various rights and freedoms, you will be on your way to becoming a more productive and knowledgeable student!
